Workers at The Office get no summer vacation

office.jpgI don’t watch The Office, but I know so many people who swear that it’s one of the best shows on television.  And, with a novel new marketing movie by NBC, it may become one of the best shows on the web:  This summer, The Office will get 10 mini-episodes, each two minutes long – and they’re only available on NBC.com.

According to E! Online, the webisodes will focus on some of Dunder-Mifflin’s accounting staff – Angela (Angela Kinsey), Kevin (Brian Baumgartner) and Oscar (Oscar Nunez) – as they try to track down $3,000 that has gone missing.  Some series regulars will also appear.  Read more here.

I think this is a great new way to keep viewership interested in a television show during the summer months.  Lost, with its plethora of interactive websites that reveal clues, deepen the mystery and otherwise keep viewers on their toes even when the show is in repeats, really paved the way for this latest development – although there’s no arguing that NBC took it one wise step further.  Hopefully J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindeloff will take the hint from NBC and create some webisodes for Lost this summer – cause going even three months without Lost is complete and total torture!!!
